Located on the shores of American Lake, Thornewood Castle is a 500-year-old Gothic Tudor style mansion and the central character of horror novelist, Stephen King’s movie “Rose Red.” Although King had never seen Thornewood, the castle was a nearly identical match to his literary description, forcing him to change the location of the fictional Rose Red to the Pacific Northwest. The castle was completely renovated for the movie bringing back all the former wealth and luxury of the original home. The castle was originally built as a gesture of love from Chester Thorne to his wife Anna. He had a secret garden and 37 acres of flowers created for her by world renowned landscape architects the Olmstead brothers. Thornewood Castle is now an exclusive venue for special events. Guests will enjoy dinner and private tours of the castle during this one of a kind event. ...... Watch your step, something may be watching….
